I have been going to the CNN website for years really out of habit just to get the latest headlines. I do sometimes click on something to learn more. But about a year ago they did something very annoying and remarkable like Microsoft. When you go to their site a little dialog has you agree basically to the use of a cookie. A cookie that times how long you are on the site or how many times you click to learn more. They also have subscriber only content too, so it isn't not just the cookie. But after a few days for me it times out and I can't access the site any longer. So I delete browser cookies and restart the bowser so I can read the article I clicked on to learn more, after I agree to the dialog again of course. It starts over again and is why I have two different browsers installed on my computer. I have one bookmark on the one browser and it is for CNN.
So like Microsoft, CNN wants my email address so they can sale it to others. Yes I could probably read their privacy policy and could possible opt out of things. But for Microsoft I use Linux and for CNN I have two browsers. Should have gotten a marketing degree I guess. They are pretty valuable people right now.
